Bluehost

This guide is intended to show how to create the various DNS records that can be configured to authenticate and white-label your mail processing through SocketLabs.

Go to https://my.bluehost.com/web-hosting/cplogin and log-in to the account your domain is registered under.

Click the Domains tab.

Click Zone Editor.

CNAME Record For Engagement Tracking and Custom Bounce Domain

  • In the Select a Domain section of the page, select the domain you wish to white-label.
  • In the Add DNS Record, section enter your desired host name in the Host Record field.
  • Change the Type to CNAME.
  • In the Points To field, enter tracking.socketlabs.com
  • Click Add Record to publish your CNAME record.

CNAME Record For Custom DKIM Signing

Only publish this record if you plan on using the Custom DKIM signing option, rather than Advanced DKIM. If you wish to use the Advanced DKIM Signing option instead, see instructions below.

  • In the Host Record field, enter dkim._domainkey
  • Change the Type to CNAME.
  • In the Points To field, enter dkim._domainkey.email-od.com
  • Click Add Record to publish your CNAME record.

Advanced DKIM Signing

It is recommended that you use the DKIM Generation Wizard and use the private and public key pair generated.

  • In the Host Record field enter yourselector._domainkey
  • Change the Type to TXT.
  • In the TXT Value field, enter k=rsa; p=yourpublickey
  • Click Add Record to publish your public key.

SPF

  • In the Host Record field, enter @
  • Change the Type to TXT.
  • In the TXT Value field, enter v=spf1 include:email-od.com ~all

Important: If Your Domain Already Publishes an SPF Record
If your domain already publishes an SPF record, you will just need to add the include:email-od.com to it. For example, if your record looks similar to:
example.com TXT "v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all"
Then adding include:email-od.com to it will look as such:
example.com TXT "v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:email-od.com ~all"

  • Click Add Record to publish your SPF record.
