Easy DNS Configurations for Engagement Tracking, Custom Bounce Domain, DKIM settings, and SPF

Configuring DNS records in EasyDNS

This guide is intended to show how to create the various DNS records that can be configured to authenticate and white-label your mail processing through SocketLabs.

  1. Go to https://cp.easydns.com/login.php and log-in to the account your domain is registered under.
  2. Open the Domain Administration (Domain Overview) and select DNS Settings --> CNAME.
  3. Click Edit to bring up the editing page.

CNAME Records For Engagement Tracking and Custom Bounce Domain

Allow Underscores must be enabled for Custom DKIM signing to configure properly.

This option can be found under Preferences → Editing Preferences

  1. Under Host, enter your desired host name.
  2. Under Address, enter tracking.socketlabs.com. Make sure there is a trailing dot (.) at the end of the address.

CNAME Records For Custom DKIM Signing

Only publish this record if you plan on using the Custom DKIM signing option, rather than Advanced DKIM. If you wish to use the Advanced DKIM Signing option instead, see instructions below.

  1. Under Host, enter dkim._domainkey
  2. Under Address, enter dkim._domainkey.email-od.com. Make sure there is a trailing dot (.) at the end of the address.
  3. Click Next and then Confirm to save the changes.

Advanced DKIM Signing

It is recommended that you use the DKIM Generation Wizard and use the private and public key pair generated.

  1. You will need to enable Show Advanced DNS Records in your Preferences. To do this, go to Preferences after logging into your domain, and under Domain Preferences, select Yes for Show Advanced DNS Records
  2. Open the Domain Administration and select DNS Settings --> TXT.
  3. Click Edit to open the editing page.
  4. Under Host on the first line, enter yourselector._domainkey
  5. Under Text, enter k=rsa; p=yourpublickey
  6. Click Next and you will be asked to confirm the values being added. Check that the values match those provided in the Domain Key / DKIM Key Generation Wizard under Setting up your DNS.
  7. Click Confirm to publish your key.

SPF

  1. Open the Domain Administration and select DNS Settings --> TXT.
  2. Click Edit to open the editing page.
  3. Under Host under the first blank line, enter @
  4. Under Text, enter v=spf1 include:email-od.com ~all

Important: If Your Domain Already Publishes an SPF Record

If your domain already publishes an SPF record, you will just need to add the "include:email-od.com" to it. For example, if your record looks similar to:

example.com TXT "v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all"

Then adding include:email-od.com to it will look as such:

example.com TXT "v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:email-od.com ~all"

Click Next and Confirm to publish the SPF record.
